Topanga filmmakers reach out to Haitian creative community

Topanga Film Festival reaches out to Haitian filmmakers

Topanga Film Festival reaches out to Cine Institute that provides Haitian youth with film education, technical training and media related enterprise opportunities — urging them to submit their stories in written or video form — with the commitment that special consideration will be given to Haitian filmmakers submitting  for any of the the TFF competitions. We will find support to bring a Hatian filmmaker of interest, to the Topanga Film Festival during its annual event to be held August 18–21, 2010.  Please contact us if if you are interested in sponsoring a Hatian Filmmaker.

Historically, the festival has been tied to Haiti through association with two of the festival’s most visible boosters — Sue and Martin Schmitt — who founded an orphanage in Haiti, host a flurry of Topanga Film Festival-related events at their Topanga Trust Ranch.

Cine Institute Students share their experiernces during the earthquake, their loss and their mission for the future.

We encourage you to follow both incredible stories and reach out to  Kay Angel Orphanage, located south of Jacmel – and   Cine Institute Haiti
