Author and book on board as 2010 Topanga Film Festival sponsors

Author Sandra Carrington-Smith and her novel, The Book of Obeah, today joined the roster of 2010 Topanga Film Festival sponsors.
The Book of Obeah centers around a woman who must take her grandmother’s ashes to Louisiana. In doing so, the book’s protagonist is forced out of her comfort zone when she finds herself in the exotic and sometimes hostile environments of New Orleans and Bear Bayou.
International Book Awards Winner, Sandra Carrington-Smith, aspires to connect with producers and others in the creative community with an eye to transform her novel into a screenplay. She is hopeful that members from the Topanga Film Festival and the Topanga Film Institute creative community may emerge as eventual collaborators in the making of a movie based on her book.
A self-proclaimed life observer, Sandra Carrington-Smith, currently lives in North Carolina with her family. A native of Italy, with poetry published there as a young adult, Sandra’s spiritual underpinnings come from a family background that includes a devout Catholic father, a Voodoo priestess mother, a maternal grandmother who claimed to be a strega, a practioner of centuries-old Italian witchcraft and a paternal grandmother who worked as a Christian healer.
Although these paths are often perceived as being at odds with one another, Sandra said realized at an early age how similar they are and learned to travel through life with an open mind, viewing her journey from multiple angles. Sandra claims that this early lesson in perception has allowed her to create a full, diverse, loving life experience, and in turn offer guidance to those in search of the same.
Sandra credits exposure to all of these believes from an early age to have inspired The Book of Obeah.

Sandra is THE author for the twenty-first century! I picked up “The Book of Obeah” on a Thursday at my son’s doctor’s appointment, read about 20 pages. I put it down until veg-time the following Saturday and had knocked it out by Saturday evening, and was clamoring for more!
Sandra has a special way with the pen. She blogs regularly and has insight into human nature that most people do not, so when she speaks or writes, I have a tendency to listen, and I hope you will, as well!
