Urs Baur preps for a Salon Friday

This Friday, a part of the afternoon’s focus will be on selecting the Best Multimedia Journalist at the Southeastern Journalism Conference — a brand new competition category for the 23-year old conference that concludes on February 3, 2010.  Anyone in attendance Friday will join Sara, Urs and Milena in selecting the conference’s top multimedia journalist.

Judging will take place from 5-6p.m.  For anyone wishing to participate, please take note that competing students must have included a minimum of three formats to cover a single story. For example, the story may have been covered as a print story, with an online slides how with voice-over, and a blog written to explain the behind-the-scenes work that went into covering the story. Multimedia formats that may be have been submitted with each story can include still images, written text, audio and video, and/or social media coverage (such as a Twitter stream from a breaking news event). Each submission should provide live links, with URL(s).

Topanga Film Festival adds a day to the 2010 event

With 2010 right around the corner, Topanga Film Festival co-founders Sara and Urs Baur look forward to the festival’s 6th year. Also in the works for 2010: an environmentally-themed documentary, a foray into development, production and finance of feature films as well as live and multimedia production of the beloved opera, Carmen.

Joining baurhouse in 2010 is Milena Rimassa-Merrill, an executive producer best known for Sundance competitor Other Voices, Graduation Week and Mel. Most recently, Rimassa-Merrill was a content strategist for Advance Internet LLC in New Orleans, La. who joins baurhouse as a producer/fundraiser for both the Topanga Film Festival and baurhouse, a trans-format media production, distribution and creative services company.
